One for the officianados...
What is the correct RAL paint code for '91-92 Kawasaki Green?
Therre are several listed, but i don't want the lighter lime green as per the MX bikes, i don't want the current darker green of the new bikes, i want this one;

Also, anyone found a decent paint that wont fall off engine casings?

My thanks an advance.

Can't help you with the RAL codes because I have never found anywhere that says when each specific RAL code was used. All I could suggest is get a small amount of each and try them out.

As far as engine paint is concerned, when I sued to work on car engines in my youth we always used to use Hammerite - but whether the modern stuff is as good as back then, who knows. I have heard good talk of the Granville very high temp paint which seems to be specific for engines and the like. You can get it here : http://www.carpartfactors.com/acatal...lle_holts.html. :D

Not sure if there is a RAL code for that green - probably just a manufacturer code. I have a RAL chart here and the closest is RAL6018, Yellow Green. It looks darker than the Kwak green in your pic but often the colour looks lighter in the flesh on a big panel I think (very difficult to judge it looking at a photo on a screen, you would need to put the RAL colour against the actual bike). Maybe you could get a small sample to try against it?

I bought some Kawasaki Green once from a paint shop, and it looked like it was the same as on the wheel in the picture.

You could take the wheel into the paint shop, and they should be able to match it up for you.

As for the engine casings, do you mean the crankcases, or the side casings?

If its the side casings, why not get them Powder coated?

I remember reading somewhere on here about a member having the engine casings done on a GPZ900R, and it looked very good.

Have a look here: http://www.bike-paint.co.uk/, there's a few greens listed, but earliest is a 95 bike, and I don't know which model yours is.

Thanks bro. I could've just come and bothered you but trying to save you up for all the painting favours...

Thanks. After looking at that it looks like factory code Lime Green 617 might be the jobby,
I don't have a model, i have a collection of parts from various breeds of motorcycle that i'm stitching together! I picked the year from a tank i have!

Whilst i'm wandering off-topic; anyone got a ZX9R tank they don't want?
Condition doesn't matter because i just want to see if it'll fit than i can buy one later. One to borrow for an hour or so would also do.
:)

Thanks mate. I'll have a look at my usual supplier and see if they can do Lechler.
Do they do regular 2-pack stuff or is it all this modern waterbased nonsense?
